Spanish Railroad CCTV design with IP Video System Design Tool
- “Having worked seven years as a security design project engineer, I must say that I am impressed. I obtained exactly what I wanted in the CCTV simulation software. If someone had told me earlier that there was such a useful program, I would not have believed it! This software makes my job easier and I am able to produce higher quality work. Most importantly, my clients have also reduced their costs.
Nowadays, It allows me to save time. I have no need of visiting work sites as often as I used to, since the program simulates work sites in my PC. I have found a tool to optimize the number of cameras and to set the layout that I actually need, avoiding duplicate vision zones and realizing the obstacles.
I have been in charge of various security projects of some important high-speed railway stations. Several months ago I did not know the existence of that software. Hence, I did the first draft based on my previous knowledge and I started with the CCTV cameras layout figuring cameras coverage and which obstacles may prevent the view.
After showing the client my draft, they thought the total number of cameras that had to be set was excessive and expensive and they asked me to justify it accurately. Something like that never had happened to me and at that point, I had to demonstrate why it had to be that way. Then, I started to search for a CCTV simulation software on the Internet.
Since I started working with IP Video System Design Tool I have reached a surprising conclusion: the number of cameras could be reduced. As I could simulate different lenses and I could see duplicate views and see clearly all blind-spots and obstacles, I could assess my previous work and I could relocate some cameras. At that point, I was able to show to the clients a schematic layout which was pretty close to the real thing and they could evaluate whether the new proposal was acceptable. Thanks to the 3D pictures they also could contribute to improve the final product giving us their opinion providing more economical resources.
In my opinion, JVSG is the best tool for CCTV system design. Firstly, it improves our work in many ways, as saving time or resources and making us aware of our own mistakes. Secondly, we can show to non-expert clients the product they would buy. Drawings are too difficult to interpret by non-expert clients but just a single one simulation program image may convince them about the success of the project”.
